Resumo: Muito embora a habitação seja considerada um direito crucial à reprodução e à sobrevivência do ser humano, garantido pela Constituição Federal Brasileira e pela Declaração Universal dos Direitos Humanos, espantoso é perceber o grave problema de moradia que é imposto às classes sociais economicamente menos favorecidas. A habitação é tratada como mercadoria, uma mercadoria cara, devido às suas características intrínsecas. A solução do problema habitacional unicamente pelos mecanismos de mercado atinge somente a parte da demanda que é solvável. Ao capitalista interessa investir apenas sob a perspectiva de obter lucro e, neste aspecto, o investimento na construção de habitação para as camadas mais pobres da população sempre lhe pareceu, de um modo geral, pouco atraente. Neste sentido, faz-se necessária a intervenção do Estado. Da articulação entre esses dois agentes emergiu o programa Minha Casa, Minha Vida. Sob esta nova etapa do capitalismo habitacional brasileiro, o que se verifica é o poder de atuação desses dois agentes na produção do espaço urbano. Em Campinas-SP, o Residencial Jardim Bassoli é um exemplo dessa nova fase.
Abstract: While housing is acknowledged and provided for by the Constitution of Brazil and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a basic right in support of human reproduction and survival, it turns out to be a struggle for the underprivileged social classes. Because it is largely dealt with as a commodity, and an expensive one, for its inherent features, addressing the issue of housing strictly as a matter of business is only enough to meet the portion of the demand comprised of those who can actually afford to buy any standard of home. Profit-driven business investors are not generally inclined to invest in housing for the lower classes, which leaves the issue to be handled by the State. A collaboration between Brazilian government and the private sector has given rise to the "Minha Casa, Minha Vida¿ housing programme. At this new stage of housing capitalism in Brazil, these two actors in the production of urban space have been effectively working together to build urban areas such as the Residencial Jardim Bassoli affordable housing estate project located in Campinas, São Paulo.
