Resumo: Não é de hoje que sabemos que a Educação Física passa por dificuldades, principalmente no ensino médio. Neste trabalho, foi possível verificar através de uma pesquisa histórica que tanto a estrutura curricular da Educação Física no segundo grau, como o curso superior de educação física, foram estruturados sobre um preceito hoje ultrapassado. Em meados dos anos 70, tentou-se introduzir novos paradigmas, mas tal inclusão apenas serviu para iniciar uma profunda crise de identidade, que perdura até os dias de hoje. Uma das principais razões para esta crise de identidade é a própria definição da área, ou seja, a nossa área é Educação Física ou Ciência da Motricidade humana? E isso não é apenas uma questão de semântica, mas sim de definição da atuação e enquadramento dos profissionais de nossa área. E essa indefinição reflete-se diretamente no ensino da Educação Física, principalmente no ensino médio, onde em boa parte das escolas, as aulas de Educação Física tem servido apenas para uma prática específica onde se pretende simplesmente uma recreação ou a seleção dos mais hábeis para as equipes representativas da escola. Toma-se, então, evidente que cada vez mais está havendo um esvaziamento das aulas de Educação Física, ficando clara a urgente necessidade de se estabelecer um currículo básico, capaz de orientar as ações dos profissionais da área e acima de tudo, criar um circulo virtuoso com o objetivo de resgatar a importância da Educação Física Ver menos

Abstract: It is not of today that we know that the Physical Education passes mainly for difficulties, in average education. In this work, it was possible to verify through a historical research that as much the curricular structure of the Physical Education in as the degree, as the superior course of physical education, had been structuralized on a rule today exceeded. In middle of years 70, it was tried to introduce new paradigms, but such inclusion only served to initiate a deep crisis of identity, that lasts until the present.
