Resumo: A pós-graduação strictu sensu no Brasil tem características únicas, principalmente fundadas no desenvolvimento de uma dissertação ou tese em uma área específica. Contudo, o processo formativo dos sujeitos que atravessam um mestrado ou doutorado é cheio de nuances e cobranças, que consequentemente proporcionam certas formações de conhecimentos e de discursos, que precisam ser explorados e aprofundados. Portanto, este trabalho tem por objetivo compreender a formação discursiva em pós-graduação na área de Ciências Biológicas no Instituto de Biologia da Unicamp. Concomitantemente, buscou-se desenvolver o entendimento do discurso científico acadêmico perante as questões sociais e políticas, a formação deste sujeito enquanto intelectual e as condições materiais existentes para a formação em pós-graduação no Brasil. Para isso, foi realizado um trabalho etnográfico inserido em um grupo de pesquisa vinculado ao programa de genética do Instituto de Biologia da UNICAMP ao decorrer de um ano, acompanhando seu cotidiano nos laboratórios, o desenvolvimento de seus experimentos, as reuniões de discussão de artigos e apresentação de resultados, as defesas de tese e dissertação e o congresso interno do programa de pós-graduação. Enquanto análise da experiência etnográfica, foi apresentado as questões do espaço físico e arquitetônicos da universidade, que prejudica o processo formativo pelo distanciamento e dificuldade em organização dos equipamentos necessários; a utilização unicamente da língua inglesa e os processos formativos envolvendo a língua; os discursos formativos da epistemologia da ciência no processo da pós-graduação; a formação para o trabalho e os objetivos traçados para os pós-graduandos e os sujeitos que se formam neste espaço. Todas essas questões apresentam a formação em pós-graduação como uma formação de sujeitos intelectuais e como essa intelectualidade irá atuar acadêmica e socialmente. Abstract: Postgraduate education in Brazil has unique characteristics, primarily grounded in the development of a thesis in a specific area. However, the formative process of individuals undergoing a postgraduation program is filled with nuances and demands, which consequently lead to the formation of certain knowledge and discourses that deserve to be explored and deepened. Therefore, the objective of this work is to understand the discursive formation in postgraduate education in Biological Sciences at the Institute of Biology at UNICAMP. At the same time, the study aims to develop an understanding of academic scientific discourse in relation to social and political issues, the formation of the Brazilians intellectuals, and the material conditions for postgraduate education in Brazil. In this regard, an ethnographic study was conducted within a research group linked to the genetics program at the Institute of Biology at UNICAMP over the course of one year, observing the daily activities in laboratories, the development of experiments, meetings for article discussions and results presentations, thesis and dissertation defenses, and the internal conference of the postgraduate program. As part of the analysis of the ethnographic experience, issues connected to the physical space and architecture of the university were presented, which hinder the formative process due to distance and difficulties in organizing the necessary equipment; the exclusive use of the English language and the formative processes involving such language; the formative discourses of the epistemology of science in the postgraduate process; the workforce training and the objectives set for postgraduate students, as well as the individuals who graduate from this space. All these issues present postgraduate education as the formation of intellectual subjects and how this intellectuality will act both academically and socially.
