Resumo: Analisamos, neste artigo, a ausência de uma origem como ponto de referência temporal no romance O castelo, de Franz Kafka. Tanto o personagem principal, quanto o espaço ao qual ele chega, parecem não ter uma história. Esta ausência contribui para uma constituição bastante específica da temporalidade no romance e o insere, no contexto da Modernidade, em uma estética de rompimento com a tradição. Abstract: On this paper we analyze the absence of the origin as a temporal reference point on Franz Kafka's novel The castle. Both the main character and the space where he arrives seem to have no history. This absence contributes for a very specific constitution of the temporality of the novel and inserts it in an aesthetic of rupture with the tradition, within the context of the Modernity.
