Resumo: Esta tese propõe um diálogo entre uma antropologia – da natureza, dos objetos e da tradução – e alguns objetos de arte. Percebe-se, na produção contemporânea de ambas, uma guinada ecológica, algo que remete à história das duas disciplinas (da separação, na antropologia, entre biológico e social; e, na arte, dos gêneros da natureza-morta e paisagem às artes vivas contemporâneas, em síntese), mas que parece se explicitar e se deslocar teórica e materialmente nos últimos anos. Essa conexão entre arte e antropologia, pressuposto para a escrita deste texto, é percebida também em diversos projetos, como exposições e curadorias recentes, além de leituras e interesses dos próprios artistas. A partir desse sintoma, busca-se compreender inovações nas formas de compreensão e materialização do que se concebe como natureza em contraposição ao que seria próprio do campo da arte e seu personagem central, o objeto artístico. Propõe-se construir analogias entre conceitos produzidos pela antropologia (especialmente dos campos da ciência e da etnologia contemporâneas) – como a agência das obras-objeto e da possibilidade de ler e traduzir este outro sujeito etnográfico – para se produzir uma antropologia da arte; e, simetricamente, questionar se e como a experiência com o campo artístico pode iluminar e deslocar práticas, leituras e conceitos antropológicos. Para tanto, procura-se emular um procedimento do próprio mundo estudado, a prática curatorial de escolher obras para exposição, trazidas para o espaço bidimensional do texto. Esses trabalhos de arte são os personagens principais com os quais se dialoga na tese, procurando escutá-los, percebê-los, com toda a ambiguidade própria desses objetos-sujeito, para produzir certas conexões parciais com a teoria antropológica escolhida para essa conversa. Abstract: This thesis proposes a dialogue between an anthropology—of nature, objects, and translation—and certain works of art. In the contemporary production of both fields, an ecological turn is noticeable, something that refers to the history of both disciplines (in anthropology, the separation between the biological and the social; and in art, the transition from the genres of still life and landscape to contemporary living arts, in summary). However, this shift seems to have become more explicit and has moved both theoretically and materially in recent years. This connection between art and anthropology, which serves as an assumption for writing this text, is also evident in various projects, such as recent exhibitions and curatorial practices, as well as in the readings and interests of the artists themselves. Based on this phenomenon, the thesis seeks to understand innovations in the ways of perceiving and materializing what is conceived as nature, in contrast to what belongs to the field of art and its central figure, the artistic object. The thesis proposes constructing analogies between concepts developed in anthropology (particularly in the fields of science and contemporary ethnology)—such as the agency of art objects and the possibility of reading and translating this other ethnographic subject—in order to develop an anthropology of art. Simultaneously, it questions whether and how the experience within the artistic field can illuminate and shift anthropological practices, interpretations, and concepts. To achieve this, the study seeks to emulate a method from the very world it examines: the curatorial practice of selecting artworks for exhibition, transposed into the two-dimensional space of the text. These artworks become the main characters with which the thesis engages, striving to listen to and perceive them in all their inherent ambiguity as object-subjects, thereby producing specific partial connections with the selected anthropological theories. Ultimately, the work aims to present and establish relationships between art and anthropology, which seem to converge in the effort to challenge supposedly stabilized ontological divisions among modern thinkers, such as representation and represented, object and subject, human and non-human, nature and art, and the life and death of and within the art object Ver menos
