Resumo: O tema em estudo nessa pesquisa sobre o contato linguístico guajajara e português em contexto urbano em Imperatriz-MA tem como objetivo geral investigar as dinâmicas sociolinguísticas e estruturais da variedade guajajara no contexto urbano de Imperatriz-MA, analisando os impactos da migração, o contato mais direto com o português, bem como sua estrutura gramatical, com foco na ordem básica de palavras, nos mecanismos sintático- semânticos relacionados às construções desiderativas e a alteração na codificação dos marcadores de pessoa que envolvem esses dois fenômenos. Para alcançar esse objetivo utilizamos uma abordagem teórico-metodológica abrangente que desse conta de investigar e compreender a dinâmica do contato e os fenômenos linguísticos que sinalizam possíveis alterações em guajajara. Com isso, seguimos as orientações metodológicas da: (i) Sociolinguística, com foco em duas abordagens: a Linguística de contato e a Sociologia descritiva da linguagem (Fishman); (ii) abordagem Funcional-tipológica; (iii) A Estrutura da informação (Lambrecht). No conjunto dessas diferentes teorias usamos diversos instrumentos de coleta de dados: (i) roteiro estruturado de entrevista sociolinguística, subdividido em três temas: língua background (língua falada pelo participante e por outras gerações de sua família); migração; proficiência, uso e atitudes linguísticas; (ii) gravações e transcrições de eventos de fala dos indígenas, tanto na língua indígena, quanto em português, sobre temas da cultura Guajajara, gravações de eventos de fala espontânea; (iii) elicitação de dados via questionários linguísticos, elaborados a partir de um estudo comparativo em trabalhos anteriores de outros pesquisadores que estudaram a língua Tenetehara (guajajara e tembé) desde a década de 70; (iv) coleta de narrativas orais, por meio de estímulos visuais em contextos seminaturais e posterior transcrição em guajajara e em português. Selecionamos 10 participantes para a pesquisa, considerando os seguintes critérios: sexo (homem e mulher); faixa etária: 1a (50 anos ou mais); 2a (31-49); 3a (18-30); domínio da(s) língua(s): falantes monolíngues em guajajara e/ou bilíngues em guajajara e português. Os resultados da pesquisa relacionados às questões sociolinguísticas mostram que a migração do grupo Guajajara para a cidade de Imperatriz-MA configura um cenário sociolinguístico complexo, refletindo mudanças significativas na vitalidade, uso e transmissão da língua indígena. Os dados mostram uma interrupção da transmissão da língua entre as gerações mais jovens, especialmente, entre as crianças, cujo português já se consolidou como a língua materna na cidade. Um outro fator que compromete a vitalidade desse dialeto na cidade é a perda de vários domínios de uso da língua, entre eles, o domínio escolar e religioso, comprometendo ainda mais o grau de vitalidade da língua indígena e consequentemente uma possível perda do dialeto guajajara em contexto urbano. No âmbito da estrutura linguística, os fenômenos estudados nessa pesquisa indicam que o dialeto guajajara está em um estágio dinâmico de reestruturação de alguns aspectos linguísticos. Os dados sugerem que esses fenômenos são impulsionados tanto por motivações internas quanto externas. Assumimos que, até agora, os aspectos investigados podem não refletir diretamente uma alteração e/ou mudança linguística de fato, mas uma associação de fatores discursivo-pragmáticos bem como fatores intergeracionais, estão atuando na atual configuração dessa variedade Ver menos

Abstract: The subject of this research on the linguistic contact between Guajajara and Portuguese in the urban context of Imperatriz-MA has the general objective of investigating the sociolinguistic and structural dynamics of the Guajajara variety in this urban context. It examines the impacts of migration, the more direct contact with Portuguese, and its grammatical structure, focusing on the basic word order, the syntactic-semantic mechanisms related to desiderative constructions, and the alterations in the encoding of person markers involving these two phenomena. To achieve this objective, a comprehensive theoretical-methodological approach was adopted to explore and understand the dynamics of linguistic contact and the phenomena that signal possible changes in Guajajara. The methodological guidelines followed include: (i) Sociolinguistics, focusing on two approaches - Contact linguistics and the Descriptive sociology of language (Fishman); (ii) the Functional-typological approach; (iii) Information structure (Lambrecht). A range of data collection instruments was employed: (i) a structured sociolinguistic interview guide subdivided into three themes: language background (languages spoken by the participant and other generations of their family), migration, linguistic proficiency, use, and attitudes; (ii) recordings and transcriptions of indigenous speech events in both the indigenous language and Portuguese, focusing on Guajajara cultural themes and spontaneous speech events; (iii) elicitation of linguistic data using questionnaires designed based on comparative studies from previous research on the Tenetehara language (guajajara and tembé) conducted since the 1970; (iv) oral narrative collection using visual stimuli in semi-natural contexts, followed by transcription in Guajajara and Portuguese. Ten participants were selected for the research, considering the following criteria: gender (male and female); age groups-1st group (50 years or older), 2nd group (31–49), 3rd group (18–30); and language proficiency-monolingual Guajajara speakers and bilingual speakers of Guajajara and Portuguese. The sociolinguistic findings reveal that the Guajajara group’s migration to Imperatriz-MA has created a complex sociolinguistic landscape, reflecting significant changes in the vitality, use, and transmission of the indigenous language. The data show an interruption in the intergenerational transmission of the language, particularly among younger generations, especially children, for whom Portuguese has already established itself as the mother tongue in the city. Another factor compromising the vitality of this dialect is the loss of several language domains, including educational and religious spheres, further endangering the vitality of the indigenous language and potentially leading to the loss of the Guajajara dialect in the urban context. Regarding linguistic structure, the phenomena studied indicate that the Guajajara dialect is undergoing a dynamic stage of restructuring in some linguistic aspects. The data suggest that these phenomena are driven by both internal and external motivations. We propose that, so far, the investigated aspects may not directly reflect linguistic change but rather an association of discursive-pragmatic and intergenerational factors shaping the current configuration of this variety Ver menos
