Resumo: A Canção de Rolando é uma canção de gesta do século XI que sobreviveu ao tempo em sete versões manuscritas. A gesta está vinculada à oralidade e sua difusão depende da reiteração do texto no momento da apresentação. As modificações em seu corpo textual eram desejáveis, na medida em que o atualizam e o tornam acessíveis ao público. A Canção de Rolando também foi modificada em suas versões manuscritas. A versão mais antiga, Oxford, é significativamente diferente das demais, nas quais foram incluídos detalhes correspondentes a um gênero surgido no século XII, o roman. O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar algumas das modificações realizadas no texto da Canção de Rolando, comparando os manuscritos e, assim, compreender a influência estilística da gesta e do roman em seus respectivos contextos. Observa-se a diminuição dos traços característicos da musicalidade da gesta. As cortes, lugar de origem do roman, impulsionaram a cultura escrita em língua vulgar. Com o apoio de material escrito, os recursos mnemônicos usados para apresentar a gesta foram reduzidos. Abstract: The Song of Roland is an eleventh-century chanson de geste that survived the time in seven handwritten versions. The chanson de geste is linked to orality and its diffusion depends on the reiteration of the text at the time of presentation. The modifications in his textual body were desirable as they update it and make it accessible to the public. The Song of Roland was also modified in its handwritten versions. The oldest version, Oxford, is significantly different from the others, which included details corresponding to a genre emerged in the twelfth century, the roman. The objective of this work is to analyze some of the modifications made in the text of the Song of Roland, comparing the manuscripts and, thus, to understand the stylistic influence of the chanson de geste and romance in their respective contexts. It is observed the decrease of the characteristic traits of the musicality of the chanson de geste. The courts, place of origin of the roman, impelled the written culture in vulgar language. With the support of written material, the mnemonic resources used to present the deed were reduced.
