Resumo: A presente dissertação tem como objeto de estudo o álbum Refazenda (1975), de Gilberto Gil. Parte-se do entendimento de que há duas narrativas centrais ao longo do álbum, que podem ser sintetizadas no significante interior. A primeira delas diz respeito às origens de Gilberto Gil no sertão da Bahia, o interior compreendido em um senso geográfico, o local e sua respectiva cultura particular, que se evidencia em canções como Lamento Sertanejo, Tenho Sede, Jeca Total, Ê, povo, ê e Refazenda. Já na segunda narrativa estrutural do álbum, o significante interior é interpretado como o pessoal, o íntimo, o autoconhecimento do indivíduo, vinculado às percepções trazidas com a Estrutura de Sentimentos da contracultura, vivenciada pelo compositor sobretudo no exílio em Londres. As canções Pai e Mãe, Retiros Espirituais e Meditação são exemplos representativos desse segundo eixo temático que compõe o álbum. Pretende-se, portanto, compreender de que modo Gilberto Gil articula esteticamente essas duas referências – o sertão e a contracultura – no Refazenda, considerando metodologicamente quatro dimensões fundamentais para a análise: os textos, os contextos, as poéticas e as condições de recepção e circulação do álbum. Por fim, embasados pelo procedimento analítico realizado, propõe-se uma interpretação do álbum Refazenda como a atualização do discurso de um imaginário de sertão sob a perspectiva da contracultura, no contexto sociopolítico brasileiro da década de 1970 Ver menos

Abstract: The main object of study on this dissertation is Gilberto Gil's album Refazenda (1975). We start from the understanding that there are two central topics throughout the album, which can be synthesized by the signifier interior. The first topic relates to Gilberto Gil's origins in the countryside (sertão) of Bahia. The interior here is understood in its the geographical sense, the place and its culture, which is highlighted in songs such as Lamento Sertanejo Tenho Sede, Jeca Total, Ê, povo, ê and Refazenda. In the album's second narrative, the interior is interpreted as the personal, the intimate, the self-knowledge, linked to the perceptions brought by the counterculture’s Structure of Feelings (WILLIAMS) experienced by the composer especially during his exile in London. The songs Pai e Mãe, Retiros Espirituais and Meditação are representative examples of this second topic that makes up the album. Therefore, the aim is to understand how Gilberto Gil aesthetically articulates these two references - sertão and counterculture - in the album Refazenda, by considering four key dimensions for the analysis: the texts, the contexts, the poetics and the conditions of reception and circulation of the album. Finally, based on the analytical procedure implemented, we propose an interpretation of the album Refazenda as the sertão’s imagery discursive updating guided by the counterculture’s perspectives, in the Brazilian socio-political context of the 1970s Ver menos
