Resumo: Em 1609 nas pequenas vilas de Zugarramurdi e Urdax, localizadas no reino de Navarra ao norte da Espanha, tem-se início a mais significativa perseguição contra as bruxas de toda a História da Inquisição Espanhola. O caso é marcante não só pelas investigações e condenações promovidas pela Inquisição, mas por sua ampla repercussão, tanto no período quanto em épocas posteriores. A difusão dos feitos maléficos dos bruxos de Navarra gerou grandes tensões sociais por todo o reino, causando elevado número de delações e até perseguições violentas promovidas pela própria população. O caso foi descrito pela bibliografia como bruxomania, que por sua vez é definida como histeria coletiva. Tendo em vista os avanços das pesquisas sobre bruxaria, nosso trabalho propõe problematizar esta acepção, já que ela resume um fenômeno muito amplo a uma única categoria. Mobilizando a historiografia relativa à bruxaria e a noção de estratégias sociais de Giovanni Levi, proposta no livro Herança Imaterial, pretendemos analisar o caso sobre outra perspectiva que dê a ver a complexidade de relações que culminaram naquela ampla perseguição às bruxas Ver menos

Abstract: In 1609 on the small villages of Zugarramurdi and Urdax, located in the Navarre Realm, North of Spain, the most significant persecution against witchcraft in the whole history of the Spanish Inquisition took place. The case is remarkable not just because the investigations and condenations carried out by the Inquisicion, but also because of its wide repercussion, both in the period and in later times. The spread of the evil deeds of the witches of Navarre generated great social tensions throughout the kingdom, causing a elevated number of denunciations and violent persecutions promoted by the population itself. The case was described by the bibliograph as a witchcraze, which is defined as collective hysteria. In view of the advances in researches about witchcraft, our work proposes to question this approach, once it resumes a very large phenomenon in a single category. Mobilizing the historiography related to witchcraft and the notion of social strategies of Giovanni Levi, proposed in the book L’ereditá Immateriale, we intend to analyze the case from another perspective which reveals the complexity of the relations that culminated in that widespread persecution of witches Ver menos
