Resumo: O conhecimento da relação entre o soalho do seio maxilar e os ápices radiculares dos dentes superiores posteriores é fundamental durante a realização de diferentes procedimentos cirúrgicos envolvendo a maxila. O objetivo deste estudo foi revisar foi revisar a literatura sobre as classificações existentes em populações diversas sobre a relação de proximidade entre o soalho do seio maxilar e os dentes superiores posteriores bem como sua importância na Odontologia. Para a presente revisão da literatura foi realizada uma pesquisa na base de dados internacional Pubmed, na data 22/03/2022 com as seguintes palavras-chave: "maxillary sinus", "molar" e "relationship". O período de busca foi do ano 2015 até o ano de 2021. Foram encontrados 76 artigos. Destes artigos encontrados, 28 foram utilizados para compor a presente revisão da literatura, pois atendiam os critérios de elegibilidade por abordarem as classificações entre a distância do soalho do seio maxilar e o periápice dos dentes superiores posteriores. Pôde-se concluir que os segundos molares superiores são os que estão mais próximos do seio maxilar em comparação com os outros dentes, na maioria das populações Ver menos

Abstract: The knowledge of the relationship between the floor of the maxillary sinus and the root apices of the maxillary posterior teeth is essential during the performance of different surgical procedures involving the maxilla. The aim of this study was to review the literature on existing classifications in different populations on the proximity relationship between the floor of the maxillary sinus and the maxillary posterior teeth as well as its importance in dentistry. For the present literature review, a search was carried out in the international database Pubmed, on 03/22/2022 with the following keywords: "maxillary sinus", "molar" and "relationship". The search period was from 2015 to 2021. 76 papers were found. Of these papers found, 28 were used to compose the present literature review, as they met the eligibility criteria for addressing the classifications between the distance from the floor of the maxillary sinus and the periapex of the posterior maxillary teeth.
