This article intends to develop interrelationships between the notions of excess and asphyxia in the field of feminist performance to make explicit performance strategies that seek to contest the social and patriarchal suppressions of the female body. The text analyses performative strategies of abjection, which constitute the female body as taboo. In this enterprise, the theories of Rebecca Schneider, Amelia Jones and Georges Bataille, amongst others, are implemented as tools to viabilise possible inter-twinements between the notions of excess and asphyxia.
