dc.description.abstractThis paper treats the problem of optimal operation of a reservoir system with multiple use of the water in the state of Sao Paulo. The operation of this system needs to consider conflicting objectives. These are: water supply, electrial energy production, irrigation and minimum and maximum out flow constraints due to water quality and flood control problems respectively. The problem is formulated as a network flow optimization model with a parametrical objective function. The solution consists of reservoir optimal daily operation rules and curve representing the trade-off between water supply and electrial energy production.
