|Title:||Osa Unicamp Student Chapter - Brazil|
|Abstract:||The contributions given by the working groups of OSA Unicamp Student Chapter, which was founded in December 2001 at the State University of Campinas, towards optics and photonics are discussed. Unicamps's Student Chapter is involved in pre-professional and educational outreach programs that help its members to develop communication skills, leadership and self-organization. Its research group is involved in developing techniques to overcome the effects of nonlinear noise amplification in optical communication systems, which can degrade the system performance. The Optical Communication Group is investigating the fundamental acoustooptics properties of ultra-small core photonic crystal fibers.|
